The seminars are 9:30 to 12:00 OR 12:30 to 3:00

Partnership working between the Voluntary & Community Sector and the Public Sector in addressing the needs of Rural Communities

This collection of 15 case studies will highlight real examples of good practice between public sector bodies and VCS organisations and groups in rural communities.  The profiles will detail how the partners from the two sectors collaborate effectively and gain a collective value from their shared expertise and activities.

An informal and practical event for small groups and grassroots organisations in West Yorkshire.

Primarily aimed at BME, Refugee, Rural and Faith groups, though all other groups are welcome to join.

The event aims to help groups understand the importance of policy and the effect that it can have on organisations and communities. It will include practical workshops on influencing policy to improve the communities in which they live.

A Manifesto for Rural Communities - Inspiring Community Innovation

The Carnegie UK Trust report, A Charter for Rural Communities was published in June 2007.  This new publication, A Manifesto for Rural Communities, builds upon the vision provided in the Charter but acknowledges the accelerating pace of economic and social change.  The report sets out some very positive opportunities for rural communities (and indeed communities everywhere) to survive and thrive during what are proving to be turbulent times. 

Identifying Needs through Parish Plans

Three particular publications of voices illustrating the contribution that community development can make to community empowerment.

This study highlights examples of two communities; Airmyn, East Yorkshire and Stainforth, North Yorkshire where a process of people working together to involve the wider community in dialogue about the parish plans has resulted in positive outcomes.
