Residents of Eastfield near Scarborough, voted for £32,500 worth of projects addressing crime and community safety issues. As well as local people voting for projects on 'Decision Day' in June 09, residents played a key role in the design and delivery of the process. |

Participatory Budgeting Case Studies |
In February and March of 2009, 24 separate participatory budgeting pilots were held on the theme of community safety, all partly or fully funded by a Home Office scheme. The pilots were scattered across England and Wales from Thanet in Kent to Newcastle and Northumberland, and even one in Cardiff. |
