Making the case for Participation |
In September 2009 a group of practitioners, policy officers and academics met with two international participation activists, to reflect on 'the case for participation'. The purpose of the workshop was to encourage people to move beyond what we already know about the challenges and opportunities of participation, and to think creatively and constructively about how to embed and develop this agenda. |

Voice your Choice - Participatory Budgeting comes to Eastfield |
Residents of Eastfield near Scarborough, voted for £32,500 worth of projects addressing crime and community safety issues. As well as local people voting for projects on 'Decision Day' in June 09, residents played a key role in the design and delivery of the process. |

NEA Framework for an ideal empowering authority |
This framework is based on the work of the Network of Empowering Authorities (NEA) initially at an event in October 2008. The Framework provides a benchmark for an ideal authority, something to aspire to. Participatory Budgeting Case Studies |
In February and March of 2009, 24 separate participatory budgeting pilots were held on the theme of community safety, all partly or fully funded by a Home Office scheme. The pilots were scattered across England and Wales from Thanet in Kent to Newcastle and Northumberland, and even one in Cardiff. |
