Community Matters has launched its Vision for Neighbourhoods document in which they call on a new Government to help realise 5 ambitions for communities:

CDF’s Engaged Communities Team has been working with community development workers to help increase their influence within their organisations, and build a stronger case for community development.
The final report, The art of influence: How to make the case for community development, recounts the challenges and achievements of both groups, and offers guidance and motivation for community development workers across the country.
The Regional Empowerment Commission took place at Government Office on Monday 16th November in Leeds.

This conference launches 3 books which focus in different ways on the participatory components of democracy and the state in the UK and beyond. On the eve of the UK elections, we want to use these books to facilitate a discussion on the theme of participation in our political, activist, working and everyday lives.

In September 2009 a group of practitioners, policy officers and academics met with two international participation activists, to reflect on 'the case for participation'. The purpose of the workshop was to encourage people to move beyond what we already know about the challenges and opportunities of participation, and to think creatively and constructively about how to embed and develop this agenda.
Communities secretary John Denham has outlined measures to reinvigorate and connect with areas hit by the recession most acutely to ensure they are well placed to emerge stronger and more cohesive.
Some 100 areas of the country have been identified as the focus of a targeted programme, with 27 neighbourhoods across 21 local authorities to be involved in the initial phase. Each area is to draw up specific plans based on local chalenges. Responses are likely to focus on three common areas; Leadership, Giving people a voice and Increased opportunities
This is the first report from the new voluntary and community sector quarterly confidence survey, run by the Regional Forum. The survey assesses expectations within the sector over the next 3 and 12 months. Survey findings will be published in December, March, June and September and include results across the region as a whole and across each functional sub region.
