Community Rights Made Real workshops

We are supporting Urban Forum and NAVCA in putting on two FREE workshops in the region to prepare for the practicalities, opportunities and challenges of the rights within the Localism Act. We want to support inclusion and equality in how the new rights are taken up; focusing in particular on the needs of communities who currently lack power.

The workshops will have three sections focusing: two on the two community rights and one on neighbourhood planning (in partnership with Planning Aid UK).

Localism

The Localism Act finally became law on the 15th November. It is a major part of the Coalition Government's drive for decentralisation and has five key areas ( Government page on the five key measures)

Community Rights   *   Neighbourhood Planning   *   Housing   *   General Power of Competence   *   Empowering Cities and other local areas.

Asset Based Community Development

Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) has been getting a lot of publicity recently. Some of you may have attended either the 2 day workshop in Manchester or the 1 day event in Shefield facilitated by Jim Diers and Cormac Russell.
