No right turn: a Community Development response to far right influence in communities
Thursday 18th March 2010, The Courtyard, Goole, 10.00 – 3.00
- Are you concerned about the rise of the far right and their ability to impact on communities and your work as a Community Development Worker?
- Are you not sure how to respond, or in what ways you're allowed to respond?
for example if you're a council employee working under elected representatives who are actively expressing anti-discriminatory views: anti-gay, anti-BME, anti-women, anti-disability
- Would you like to share your concerns with others and explore tactics that effectively challenge these situations?
This session will provide you with an opportunity to:
- share experiences and concerns about the rise of the far right and their impact on communities and CD work
- increase your knowledge about the far right and the methods they use in communities; government responses, particularly from the Department for Communities and Local Government; responses to myths and mis-information
- share experiences of challenging discriminatory attitudes and influence within communities and apply them to a range of scenarios
- find out about available relevant resources
Book Now - fill in a booking form to confirm your place
