Challenging Society?

People, Power, Policy and Place

Society is not broken but is more divided and unequal than ever. In the face of increasing individualism, competition and consumerism, how can we improve equality and social justice, and develop collective action and collective empowerment?

This exciting, unusual and inter-active conference will provide a real opportunity to explore and debate current policies and practice in community and neighbourhood working.

Speakers include

  • Phil Coppard, CEO Barnsley Council
  • Liz Richardson, Manchester University, author of DIY Community Action: Neighbourhood problems and community self help
  • Davy Jones, ex audit commission, freelance commentator on government and public services
